To Avoid Paying Overtime, Employers Misclassify Workers as Managers

  • 7 March 2023
Employers regularly misclassify workers as “managers” to avoid paying the overtime workers are owed. We can and must put an end to misclassification by meaningfully raising the overtime threshold.

You’re Now a ‘Manager.’ Forget About Overtime Pay. - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Protect Working People. Pass the PRO Act

  • 28 February 2023

OPEIU joins Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) and Reps. Bobby Scott (Va.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.) in their call to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. Will you protect working people and support the PRO Act?

Add Your Name: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/trumka-pro-act

Working people are sick of corporations raking in record profits while we can barely support our families.

That’s why we’re organizing like never before.

Work stoppages were up 52 percent in 2022, and the number of workers involved in stoppages increased 60 percent.

If we want to build up worker power, our outdated labor laws must keep up with the times.

This is why now is the time to pass the PRO Act, just reintroduced in the Senate as the Richard L. Trumka PRO Act.

If you think we need to protect working people, take 30 seconds to add your name in support of the PRO Act.

In solidarity,

Team OPEIU
