OPEIU Joins Wisconsin Local Unions in Protest at the Capitol in Madison, WI
Michael Goodwin, OPEIU International President and other union officials will be in Madison, WI on Friday, February 25 in support of public employees in their fight against Governor Walker’s horrific union-busting legislation!!!
We will be meeting at the First Methodist Church on the corner of Wisconsin and Dayton Streets, between 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon and again between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to ensure that we all are together as a group as we protest. The church is near the Madison Concourse hotel, just a block or two from the Capitol building.
The International Union encourages all participants to donate a personal or vacation day, or make an effort to get the employer to give paid released time. In the event none of the foregoing is possible, OPEIU will reimburse participants for lost wages for the day. For groups more than 150 miles away from Madison, WI, OPEIU will provide for up to three representatives from each Local Union, Guild or Directly Affiliated Group for up to two nights stay to attend, including airfare, hotel and expenses.
We have no plans for a carpool at this time, but e-mail or call the Local 95 office if you are interested and we will see what we can get together!!
Saturday, February 26th Madison Rally Carpool ATTENTION ALL UNION MEMBERS! PLEASE JOIN THE RALLY!
We will have carpools leaving for the events in Madison on Saturday, February 26. We will be meeting at the Wisconsin Rapids Local 95 office at 7:30 a.m. Bring a beverage and sack lunch.
In Madison, we will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the East Towne Mall (on Highway 151) near Dick's Sporting Goods. From there we will be taking shuttle buses to the Capitol.
For those of you who will be traveling on your own, gather at the East Towne Mall along with the other demonstrators.
The rally in support of our fellow Union sisters and brothers affected by Governor Walker's union-busting budget bill is scheduled for 3 p.m.

We must not stand by while our Unions and contracts are being attacked. **************
