Today, Sept. 15, marks the 57th anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. The AFL-CIO plans to honor the legacy of the four young girls who perished that day – Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and Carol Denise McNair – with a virtual candlelight vigil today at noon. The AFL-CIO is also calling on members to sign a ten-point pledge for social, racial and economic justice.
No evil is extinguished unless good people act. OPEIU calls on all those who believe racial and economic justice are intimately intertwined to take action today to stand up against white supremacy.
